Valls 1922 - Barcelona 1998. Català-Roca is considered a master of catalonian documentary photography. He started out at the studio of his father Pere Català Pic. In 1947 he opens his own studio and specializes in industrial photography and illustration. He collaberates with important magazines of his time and his photos illustrate uncountable books. He focuses on diverse subject matters like natural and urban landscapes, etnographic documentary or artist's portraits. For his work he receives the Ciutat de Barcelona award. In 1998 the Primavera Fotográfica de Barcelona dedicates a hommage to the artist. His work is shown at many exhibits abroad as well, inclusive America and Asia. In May 2000 an extensive retrospective was presented at the Miró Foundation in Barcelona.
